anybody here about the new blockbuster deal that sent szerbiak olowakandi to boston for ricky davis mark and blount.. there were also some other draft picks involved but im not totally sure..
I know Wally and Kandi have been on the trading block for years, and they really need to shake up that team more, but but Thor and Loki, surely Minny could do better than that!
Celtics Send Davis to Wolves in Seven-Player Swap "The Celtics have reached agreement tonight on a trade that sends Ricky Davis, Mark Blount, Marcus Banks, Justin Reed and two future second-round draft picks to Minnesota for Wally Szczerbiak, Michael Olowokandi and rookie Dwayne Jones," writes Steve Bulpett of the BOSTON HERALD.
Seems to me like the C's gave up more than they had to.
Ricky Davis has been averaging just under 20 PPG and 5+ APG.. I wouldn't call him trash. Turnover happy? Yes. A stat hog (as per the time that he tried to get a triple-double off the WRONG BASKET vs. the Jazz )? Sure.
But not trash.
Mark Blount (self-pronounced "blunt") has a game that is rather, well, dull , and he's also turnover-happy, but he shoots >50% FGs, >70% FTs, and >10 PPG in <30 MPG.
Also, the young Marcus Banks is a decent athlete. Not a lost cause yet.
I thought Minny came out with the better deal, considering Wally and Ricky almost a wash, and the fact that Blount (though sorely overpaid) is reasonably effective, plus the draft picks, of course. I still don't think they'll challenge for the Northwest, though.
I think the T'Wolves did very well in this deal. I don't understand why boston did it at all. I'd be @#%$ if i were a c's fan. That's probably because i don't like wally though. I use to hate ricky davis, but i really think he's matured alot in his time with the c's and he can score in bunches. I think this trade makes the wolves quite a bit better.
This is the stupidest trade ever. I dont know why this kind of a trade was even in discussion. No team in this trade got better. Wally is better than Ricky Davis...I actually believe the Wolves got worse. The Celts got better in my opinion, but oh well. Man I feel for KG...that dude has got to be @#%$. His title shots are getting further and further away.
I think Minny got the better end of this deal. An over-paid under achieving center is better than one that doesn't produce at all. The Wolves also got more athletic.
Also, this does kill the Boozer for Olowakandi rumor. but it throws some fuel onto the fire of the Boozer for Paul Pierce rumor. Him and Wally both play SG/SF and they both want max minutes.
It's more likely that Bostons' next piece to their puzzle is some inside scoring.
C- Olowakandi, Raef Lafrentz PF- Boozer, Al Jefferson SF-G. Green, Ryan Gomes SG- Wally, Gerald Green (starting SF, backup SG) PG- Dickau (when healthy), Delonte West
That should get them into the playoffs in the East.

First of all, when are you not excited one way or the other? Secondly there has been no substantiated rumor. It's just a trade that makes sense for both teams.
1. Utah needs more scoring. 2. Utah needs more athleticsm. 3. Utah needs a SG who can handle the ball. 4. Boozer has been rumored to want to be traded. 5. P.Pierce has been rumored to want to be traded. 6. Boston can use inside scoring. 7. Boozer will be an All-star in the forward deprived Eastern Conference. 8. You never want to trade to a team within your own conference. 9. their salaries are relatively close. (the Jazz may need to throw in Collins)
It seems inevitable to me.

So suddenly now that Boston has made a trade, and both players were "rumored" (keep in mind every stupid national media member could wake up one day and start any rumor they want) to want to be traded, and now that every thing seems conveniently placed, a trade is INEVITABLE.
I'm so glad that no people on this board have any say into what the Jazz organization does, or else we'd be trading players away before we even signed them, and winning a game would be about as rare as the Clippers and Hawks of the previous 7 years.
