Basically you believe that if he goes off by himself sometimes (say 50% of games) it does not hurt the team in long term. You don't care about stats proving that his teammates shoot better % if he shoots less. We just have different opinions on basketball team development.

Nope...that's not correct.
I just wanted to make myself clear that his game was ridiculously incredible last night. That's all. And they lose by 20 last night if he doesn't be "selfish".
Jozef, what you say may be true for the big picture, but it certainly isn't the case yesterday. Kobe wasn't dominating the ball at all in the first half until the lakers started trailing by a mile. Seriously, watch the game, there was no one that could reliabily sink a jumper in that first half. This is one game where if Kobe didn't take over, Lakers would have been blown out.
I can't believe I'm defending Kobe, I don't even like that guy.
They are half way through the season, and in the playoffs. Why would they lose faith in the system because of last night? They have played over 40 games of Kobe "being selfish". They are doing okay, and last night changes nothing as far as the Lakers go.
Eight one points is just insane. I still can't get over it. 27 in the 3rd and 28 in the 4th. If the Jazz score that many as a team in a quarter I count it as an offensive outburst. The fact that he did it by himself is almost beyond words.
And the best part? It couldn't have happened to a better guy.
Mark Jackson, whos quickly becoming our favorite color commentator, (he does Nets games) said he was on the phone with Reggie Miller during the Kobe Game. Jackson said as he was watching No. 8 fill it up, he told Reg that he thought it was time people started talking about Kobe in the same breath as Mike. Reggies response? Put your wife on the phone. I want to tell her that youre losing your mind.
Shar, Reggie (one of the unclassiest and dirtiest player of all times, but a sensational shooter no doubt about it) was defending Michael Jordan, now you are turning many corners at once, don't ya...............
Raptors is a team which lose to Maccabi Tel Aviv at home. Raptors are worst NBA team in rebounding and shotblocking. Now superior talented ballhog take it all on them and you are gonna call it the best bball performance? I don't believe there is one of his teammate who like him. That's no base for success.

I saw Malone scoring 56 on Warriors with buzzer in one-point game and 50 points on Sonics in playoffs game and I don't think it was so sensational in comparision to his other games. In fact I liked him even more in the next game vs. Sonics when he was under 30. I do not need to see that Raptors game I know they were sending double-team and help defense and he ignored his open teammates and shot on his own. I also have teammates who miss to pass to open teammate (right in HANDS and right in TIME) and kill our team flow. And I know we will not be tough enough when facing best opponents cause of our undeveloped team work. It's often a lot about character as well as basketball acknowledgement.

Like others, I can not believe I'm defending Kobe, but it was hands down a sensational performance. After watching the game, Kobe really did not get "selfish" until late in the 3rd quarter. His team was playing awful and he had to step up. And he did. I do think Kobe is a horrible team player. However, that being said this was one for the record books. There is no question that Kobe is one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history.
I hate MJ, I don't think he was the best player in NBA history. But that in no way means Kobe is in his league. Because he's not. He has moments when it looks like he could become that, and always has. But he's not there, and I don't think he ever will be.
I also saw the game (via theScore - TV station in Canada?, somebody put the full game on the internet)
I have to admit, that Kobe was really good. He had maybe 5 stupid shots, but so had the entire Lakers team. Lamar Odom inhaled and when Kobe was on the bench, then Raptors had no problems making shots. In the beginning of the game, Kobe was quite patient at wanted to have other teammates involved; well they failed.
However, Chris Bosh - it would be nice to have him on the Jazz
