What type of player would you like to see the Jazz pursue in the draft? I would like to see us go after a combo guard who can get time at the 1 and 2 spots. Someone like Hassan Adams or Ager.
One of the side effects of possibly making the playoffs (which I desperately want to do) is we are missing out on more and more players. I wanted Redick, but now I think we have no chance. I don't know much about Ager, but I really want Dee Brown.
Unless we trade up or fold the rest of the season and get a lottery pick we can kiss our shot at Redick goodbye. Redick would be a prefect fit for us at the 2 guard. His defense isn't the greatest but hey, when you have AK behind you who cares right? Plus his range is something we haven't had since Horny.
I think Dee Brown will still be there mid to late first round which is where we should be picking. Somewhere between 17-20. If we can't get a 2-guard then we need to trade the pick and try to sign or trade for one. High Post mentioned Mo Pete which I think is a great idea and I bet we could get him dirt cheap.
I like Ager. I watched the Michigan State vs. Gonzaga game on tv. Ager has range and plays good defense. I think the Jazz can actually have a shot at getting Dee Brown in the 2nd round. Don't they own the 2nd round picks of Sacto and Chicago. Both should be pretty high picks in the 2nd round.
I like ager too, but i like foye even more. Although i think ager is the more realistic option, because i think foye will go lottery, and i don't think the jazz will be there. Ager may be in the jazz range though, if they can get a little lucky.
I gotta say that I watched Foye play last night for the first time. I was very impressed with him. I also agree that he will probably be in the lottery. I like Ager, but I wonder if he will be there when the Jazz pick. I have been looking at Rudy Fernandez and think he might be a good pick if Ager and Foye are off the board.
HP, the way Rondo has been playing we might get him in the second round. He has been horrible lately. I admit that I have only seen him play about five times, but I haven't been impressed. He seems to be lost (low basketball I.Q.), didn't shoot well and had a hard time finishing. I don't see why you are so high on the guy.
I actually like rondo alot too. He plays tenacious D and can rebound like crazy for a guard. He's definetly not a prototypical pg, but he makes things happen. Because he can't shoot he's forced to drive, and then the defense has to collapse, so he kicks it out. He's not my favorite player in this draft, but he is my favorite pg i think.
I have watched Rondo two times and I thought he looked very raw. He has great length and freakish athleticism, but his shooting mechanics did not look very good and his ability to run a team was suspect. He can certainly create and get to the basket, but there seemed to be no structure to the offense when he was running the point.
Yeah i would agree with that. The main reason he can't shoot though is that his hands are HUGE! That's kind of a good thing but it scares me that he would never really become a good shooter. He is crazy athletic though like you said.
I like the idea of picking a foreign guy and leave them in Europe but I'd also like to get Mike Gansey - WVU (SG), preferably in the second round but he may go quicker than expected. Better defense than Reddick and a very good shooter (although I think he is not as good a FT shooter). Not just a scorer.
Hilton Armstrong may develop into something (athletic shot blocker) or even Ivan Chiriaev a big 3 (if he gets his head on straight). Mardy Collins would give us a good combo option. Sheldon Williams might be an upgrade over Humphries as Humphries seems to be a slow learner but has made improvements......but Williams will be gone. There are a couple others out there (eg. Cedric Simmons - NCSU, Sophmore) that have hugh wing spans and are good shot blockers.
Well my wish list looks like this I hope the Jazz make a move and bring in a good 2 guard this season in a trade. Then the Jazz take the best big man on the table. Armstrong looks to be a gamer and is moving up the charts.
I have always like Tiago Splitter and think his approach to defense would get him a lot of playing time under sloan. He can be a good shot blocker but he actually has an offensive game.
Sheldon Wiliams will be gone but is interesting a little short to play the 5 but he and Okur can change it up.
Yemi Nicholson is getting a lot of looks but he is a project that may never learn to play at the NBA level.
I watched Nick Fazekas play against the aggies the other day and he troubles me. he is suppose to be this great player but he seldom demands the ball down low. Getting a lot of his points of putbacks and errant passes.
Stay away from paul Davis he has bust written all over him.
You already know about Justin Williams he would be the stealof the draft taken with one of the Jazz early seconds.
If the Jazz still need a 2 guard Redick is the best fit but he will be gone.
Ager conerns me because he has a pretty shot but i just get this feling he will not be consistent at the next level.
I like the Euros more here in Fernandez and Thomas. Both could be gamers in the NBA.
Light travels faster than sound, which is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
The number one on my wish list is Randy Foye. I think he's a realistic option too. There are lots of players i like in this draft, but i seriously think that the second round is going to have alot of players that stick around in the nba. I'm almost as concerned about that pick as i am their first rounder. Luckly they have about ninteen of them, so they should get at least one right.
Last night, I watched the Villanova/Louisville game. I was super impressed with Randy Foye, but the guy that blew me away was Allen Ray. He is projected to be a 2nd round pick. I think he can become a Michael Redd type of SG that comes out of the 2nd round. He plays good D and can shoot the lights out. I think he was shooting something like 91% from the line. That is usually a good indicator of how well a guard shoots.
Yeah i actually like ray a lot too. I just like villanova though. Of course the reason i like 'nova is because of those two. I would be estatic if the jazz could pick him up in the second round, but i think he'll probably go late first. I just can't see him slipping to the second round in a draft that really is not all that deep.
